Josh wraps "One Week" + appears in LaLa Land

Wow! Things have been very, very quiet in the world of Josh these days, no? Luckily, he did do a few interviews in Canada while on the set of his new movie, “One Week”. I’m waiting on the footage of one of these shows (for ET Canada), but the other is available to watch online. Plus, it looks as though Josh is back in the states this week and attended a private dinner party for Marni designer Consuelo Castiglioni. Hopefully, I can get a few more photos as they become available:

And thanks to mjw11 for letting us know about this great interview with Josh and CTV on the set of “One Week”: View Video (off site)

I should have the other video footage available to download next week!

One of Canada’s best-known actors spent three days in Tofino this week shooting scenes for a film about cancer, denial and the meaning of life.

Joshua Jackson, known for his roles in TVs Dawson’s Creek and the 2006 movie Bobby, shot scenes for One Week on downtown streets, inside local coffee and surf shops, on the water and at Chesterman Beach.

“This is logically the end of the road,” said Nadia Tavazzani, the film’s associate producer. “This film is going to capture the most beautiful spots between Toronto and Tofino.”

Starring Jackson, One Week tells the story of a 20-something Toronto English teacher named Ben Tyler who is diagnosed with cancer and given a 10 per cent chance of survival.

Instead of beginning treatment, Tyler leaves Toronto on a cross-Canada motorcycle trip. He stops in Banff and ends up in Tofino. Filming began in Toronto Sept. 10, before the crew drove across Canada with a tour bus, pickup truck, trailer and minivan.

“It really is a question of what does one do with their life,” said Jackson, when asked about the film’s meaning. “What does your life mean? It’s basically what the character asks.”

Tavazzani said the film’s crew of 18 arrived on the West Coast of Vancouver Island Monday night and began filming Tuesday. She said they’ll finish the Tofino segment today.

One scene shot Tuesday showed Tyler returning to a scene of his damaged Norton motorcycle after it was accidentally “run over” by a 1946 green Ford half-ton truck, driven by Tofino resident Peter Moffat.

Jackson said it wasn’t easy researching the role of a cancer patient. He said unless a person experiences the disease “it’s outside the ability of someone to understand. The best I can do is be as honest as possible.”

Meantime, locals said they were thrilled to be a part of the action. Wade Denesky, co-owner of Tuff Beans coffee shop, said he was first asked to let out his business this past summer. “I’d like to think it puts off a really good vibe.” Moffat said he was asked to participate Tuesday morning. “They were just looking for a truck and said, ‘come on down. I’m proud of this old truck. I love this old truck.”

Tavazzani said the crew will work in Tofino today, before heading back to Toronto for more filming. The film’s producers are Nicholas de Pencier, Jane Tattersall and Michael McGowan. (and Joshua Jackson *ahem*) laughing

Josh gets started this week on "One Week"

Exciting news! Josh is starting production this week on the new Michael McGowan film, “One Week”. Here are some details about the project: (link to article)

“Mongrel Media has announced that principal photography will begin tomorrow, September 10, on the feature film One Week. Starring Vancouver-born Joshua Jackson, and helmed by the award-winning filmmaker Michael McGowan (Saint Ralph), who also wrote the screenplay, One Week chronicles the motorcycle trip of Ben Tyler as he rides from Toronto to Tofino, British Columbia. Ben stops at landmarks that are both iconic and idiosyncratic on his quest to find meaning in his life. Set against one of the greatest and most diverse landscapes in the world, One Week also stars Liane Balaban (St. Urbain, Horseman, New Waterford Girl).

The film is produced by Nicholas de Pencier, Jane Tattersall and Michael McGowan under the Mulmur Feed Company banner with Richard Hanet and Joshua Jackson serving as executive producers. Jackson had a costarring role in the 2006 film Bobby which received mixed reviews from critics after it premiered at the Venice Film Festival where it was wildly popular and was given a seven-minute standing ovation. It went on to be nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Picture.

One Week is produced with financial participation from Telefilm Canada, The Harold Greenberg Fund, the OMDC Film Fund and in association with The Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit and The Canadian Film and Television Tax Credit. It will be distributed in Canada by Mongrel Media.”

We’re all excited to hear that Josh has a new project! I’ll keep you posted on any further details.

ETA: Here is some more news about Josh’s role (also, make note that Josh is the executive producer for this project!):

The role is about a guy who is diagnosed with cancer and, prior to undergoing chemo – quite possibly his last healthy moment in life – decides to take off into the unknown wilderness in his own backyard, literally, before he enters the figurative unknown.

I’ll be sure to keep you all posted, and for all of you Canadian’s out there…keep a look out! You might spot Josh filming! 🙂

Josh's appearance on "Roadtrip Nation" & more NYC photos

Thanks to our message board members (snadie & ihatemyupstairneighbor) for giving the heads up about Josh’s involvement with the PBS show, “Roadtrip Nation”. We heard about this show and Josh’s segment about a year ago, but, nothing really became of it. The show aired once on New York PBS affiliates, so I haven’t be able to record it, yet. However, the episode is available to view online and we have the streaming link to allow you all to catch it! Josh appears about half way down or so into the video. I’ve also updated photos of Josh and Diane Kruger at a Prada party in NYC from Friday night. (Thanks Scarlet for the heads up!)
