Per Entertainment Weekly, Josh has been tapped by J.J. Abrams (Felicity) to star as one of the leads in his new TV sci-fi drama, “Fringe”. I’m still looking to get more clarity on this project, but it appears that a pilot episode for the show has been penned and ready to shoot the two-hour pilot this month. Josh will play a member of a unit investigating sci-fi mysteries; the gang also includes his gifted yet possibly insane scientist dad with whom he clashes. Link to EW Article

Here’s the full blurb:

“J.J. Abrams is adding another J.J. to his team: The writer-producer has just cast Joshua Jackson as one of the leads of his new Fox drama, Fringe. Jackson — best known as wise-cracking Pacey from Dawson’s Creek — will play a member of a unit investigating sci-fi mysteries; the gang also includes his gifted yet possibly insane scientist dad with whom he clashes (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King’s John Noble) and an FBI agent (Australian actress Anna Torv). The series, which Abrams has described as similar in spirit to The X-Files, Altered States, and The Twilight Zone, is shooting a two-hour pilot with a reported $10-million-plus budget this month.”

There is also some buzz on the blog circuit about the pilot: Link to Source

“I read Fringe’s pilot script with a feverish passion, devouring each and every plot twist and turn. This is a hugely ambitious project and smacks of Kevin Reilly’s positive influence over FOX: it’s intelligent, controversial, and populist at the same time, filled with memorably abrasive characters, gruesome horror, and tongue-in-cheek humor. It’s House meets The X-Files with The Twilight Zone and some of the British series Eleventh Hour thrown into the mix.”

Sounds intriguing! I’m looking to get more information about this, but if it all works out, we might have a great new Fall season ahead for us! smile

ETA: More FRINGE details! Link to Article

“A short time ago, I reported on the new J.J. Abrams-produced FOX show called “Fringe”. The show centers around a young female FBI agent, whose investigations into some paranormal happenings lead her to an institutionalized scientist, whose research has something to do with a rise in unexplained phenomena, and the scientist’s estranged son.

From previous reports, we knew that the FBI Agent would be played by Anna Torv and the scientist would be John Noble. (And, yes, even though I linked those two actors, I was not familiar with them either.)

However, the latest casting I *am* familiar with. Joshua Jackson (”Pacey” on “Dawson’s Creek”) has been cast as the scientist’s son, Peter Bishop. Peter is described as “…a high school dropout with a 190 IQ and a gambling problem.”
